Cloud Security & Compliance

In short: we secure and assure regulated cloud estates — agentless multi-cloud monitoring, Horizon360 managed security with vCISO reporting, and readiness for SOC 2, HIPAA, GxP and ISO 27001. It is for life-sciences teams that must pass audits and defend their data.

Protect your regulated workloads with enterprise-grade security. From compliance frameworks to 24/7 monitoring, safeguard what matters most.

Schedule Security Assessment

Don't Wait for a Breach

Life sciences organizations face unique security challenges. The threats are real and the stakes are high:

Data breaches exposing sensitive research or patient information
Ransomware attacks disrupting critical operations
Non-compliance leading to fines and reputational damage
Insider threats from inadequate access controls
Unpatched vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure

A single security incident can cost millions in damages, lost trust, and regulatory penalties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expert answers to common questions about cloud security and compliance in life sciences.

What is GxP compliance in the cloud?

GxP (Good Practice guidelines) in the cloud means ensuring cloud infrastructure used in pharmaceutical or biotechnology processes meets the validation, documentation, and control requirements of GxP regulations — including GMP, GLP, GCP, and GDP. AWS cloud environments can be configured and validated to meet these requirements, including access controls, audit trails, change management, and data integrity. skyPurple Cloud specialises in this validation process.

What does HIPAA compliance mean for cloud services?

HIPAA requires organisations handling Protected Health Information (PHI) to implement specific technical, physical, and administrative safeguards. In a cloud context: all PHI must be encrypted at rest and in transit; access must be controlled with least-privilege principles; audit logs must be maintained; and a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) must be signed with your cloud provider. AWS is HIPAA-eligible and provides a BAA.

What is 21 CFR Part 11 and how does it apply to cloud systems?

21 CFR Part 11 is a US FDA regulation governing electronic records and electronic signatures in pharmaceutical and biotech contexts. For cloud systems it requires: unique user IDs and passwords for all system access; audit trails capturing who changed what and when; system-generated timestamps; controls preventing backdating; and validated performance. skyPurple has implemented Part 11-compliant systems across multiple AWS environments.

What is the AWS Shared Responsibility Model?

The AWS Shared Responsibility Model defines what AWS secures (physical infrastructure and managed service components — 'security of the cloud') versus what the customer must secure (operating systems, data, applications, and access controls — 'security in the cloud'). Life sciences organisations often underestimate their obligations — particularly around patch management, access controls, and encryption key management. skyPurple helps clients understand and fulfil their obligations.

What cloud security certifications does skyPurple Cloud support?

skyPurple Cloud is an AWS Select Tier Consulting Partner and supports clients in achieving SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GxP, GDPR, and HITRUST certifications. Our team includes certified cloud security professionals with specific experience in regulated industry frameworks.
